Located at the beginning of Morjim, Little India is a one-stop-shop for a variety of trinkets, stationary, jewellery, sandals, handbags, clothing and accessories. The front of the shop displays the logo of the business, hanging from a group of strings, offering a contrast against the natural beige of the straw exterior of the terrace. Though modest in size, Little India is filled with many delightful things to choose from. Customers are invited to take their time and have a look through the many colourful treasures, perfect for a gift or even for treating oneself. For those wanting to try on one of the dresses or other items of clothing, there is a dressing room at the rear of the shop.
The homeware collection includes coasters and picture frames made from Indian inspired fabric with lotus motifs, brass horse head door knockers, colourful and playful clay ashtrays, period Indian black and white statuesque prints, indigenous statues, brass animals, letter openers, colourful hanging decorative beads and bells with alternate fabric elephants, children’s money boxes, fabric cone fairy lights, to name a few.
Mostly displayed on the counter, one can find low cost bits and pieces, such as keyrings, genuine leather lipstick cases, funky postcards, great looking scrolls that double up as envelopes, incense, small Moroccan inspired leather purses, material shopper bags. Ask to see the lovely organizers and notebooks.
