Snuggled in the midst of nature in a remote location in Agonda, Blue Planet Cafe is a haven for vegetarians and vegans alike. The cafe is very famous for its dietary food with health conscious travellers who visit Agonda.
Off the Agonda main road, the cafe is located on a dirt road about five minutes away from Agonda beach. A flight of stairs above, the premises houses a cafe and eco-lodge huts in serene environs. Decor is minimal as the food takes precedence.
The premises itself is a tranquil space away from crowd and any kind of pollution. As an extension of the owners' home, this serves as a charming expression of their hospitality with the warmth much appreciated by discerning travellers.
The terraced cafe overlooks lush paddy fields and hills, covered with numerous flora. Decor is minimal, with sheer curtains and basic seating. The menu is listed onn black boards located near the entrance with the day's specials highlighted.
Serving organic vegetarian and vegan dishes, the restaurant prides in using fresh, local, high quality produce. Choices are aplenty ranging from breakfast through dinner in the form of salads, soups, spreads, juices, smoothies, teas and desserts. Sweet potato soup, yak cheese salad, red rice chapati and spinach salad are favourites with guests. Of favourable mention is the Power Juice which uses carrot, garlic, ginger, flax oil, tomato, cucumber and celery. All in all, a good stomach full, vegetarian style!
Beginning season 2014, accommodation options will commence in five premium wooden cottages. Each cottage comes with an en-suite bath, solar heated hot shower, king sized beds, Wi-Fi and private balcony overlooking the village countryside.
The cottages are spacious, with minimal to none decor elements. The focus is on the tranquility that surrounds. Raw wood with earthy colours make for a pleasant atmoshpere for a relaxing holiday.
Circa 2001, Pravin and Urmila Desai saw the lack of healthy vegetarina and vegan establishments in Goa. They decided to fill the need gap and started with a cafe in Palolem. Slowly, it turned out, that the area turned out very commercial and crowded for their liking.
They shifted base to Agonda village; and began operations as an extension of their house premises;where the warmth for their guests came naturally. The location has since proved ideal and in line with their philosophy of offering healthy food in a healthy environment.
