Nestled off the Anjuna Flea Market main road, Shamba is a retreat for culinary enthusiasts. This new entrant in Anjuna's fine dining scene has a wealth of dishes from Europe, Asia and Africa concentrating on rustic elements of their experimental cuisine.
Surrounded by hills and situated beside lush paddy fields, the restaurant's name ‘Shamba’ translates to 'agrcultural fields' in Kenyan language Kiswahili. Simple and elegant décor compliment the alfresco dining space. Tables are set under fruit bearing, flowering trees, with herbs and shrubs for company. Mostly earthy colours with the exception of a turquoise coloured well, the restaurant, along with its food, attempts to be one with nature.
Freshness and indulgence are at the core of Shamba’s food philosophy. Shamba produces fine quality food with best ingredients. The dishes, however, seem unpretentious and rustic in manner. With the nature of food being eclectic, Shamba is not tied down to any particular kind of cuisine.
The menu at Shamba changes regularly. Guests can savour regular chef’s specials -African Inspired Kuku Paka, Fillet of Beef with Wild Mushroom ragout Potato puree and wilted Spinach, Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Ice cream and Honeycomb Sand; and Gratinated Mussels to name a few. Expect to pay an average of INR450 for mains, and INR350 for cocktails.
