Tucked on a hill, Summertime is a meticulously designed hideaway incorporating an open plan with free-flowing outdoor and indoor areas. The villa, set in a two acre secluded property, offers an expansive and private living space amidst lush cover centered on a large infinity pool. Furthermore, a Koi pond, a waterfall area, large verandah and a gazebo adorn the fruit and vegetable gardens surrounding the villa. Its wooded location in the mini-valley presents panoramic views and also makes for a birder’s delight.
Situated a few minutes away from the bustling town of Calangute, guests are not too far away from some of the best dining and nightlife experiences Goa has to offer.
Summertime has a tropical vibe with influences of Balinese architecture. A double-height ceiling and floor-length windows and doors of the living room form the heart of the villa. The earthy shades of walls and pillars provide a soothing backdrop to brightly coloured, customised and handmade furniture and artefacts from around the world – phulkari tapestry, wooden farm animals, lamps from Pondicherry, furniture from Bali et al.
The living room looks out on a charming pool pavilion, the main swimming pool with a smaller lounge pool with sunken benches and a wide deck with umbrellas and extra wide teak loungers.
Boasting grand suites, each spacious at 730 sqft, the three bedrooms are fully serviced with en-suite baths, large dressing areas; and other modern amenities. The Koi Suite on the ground floor is located closest to the Koi pond and the waterfall. On the first floor is the Coral Suite, bedecked in deep pinks and reds, and overlooking a valley of paddy fields. Featuring a four poster bed and bird paintings by Carl D’silva, this suite is best recommended for a couple. Further alongside is the cheery Sunflower Suite regarded as the most playful and overlooks the entire property.
Summertime is the brainchild of Hans Tuinman and Sucheta Potnis. The multilevel property was opened to discerning guests in October 2015. Created over the course of two years, it has brought together their design sensibilities and artistic talents, which can be witnessed in the charming retreat on the hills of Calangute.
Hans and Sucheta, a treasure trove of travel experiences, have been living in Goa since early 1990's. From their hideaway in Goa, they run their inbound company, Odyssey Tours & Travels, which offers bespoke tours featuring unusual accommodation and travel experiences throughout India which are featured on their website>>.
They also own Solita, Goa's first and oldest charter yacht, docked on the Mandovi river at Britona. A completely different way of exploring Goa, the Solita will take you out to sea to spot dolphins and down Goa's secret backwaters, past quaint villages. Available at priority booking to guests at Summertime Villa, this is an experience not to be missed.
